Ecologies and Gynotopias: Science Fiction and Society

Ecologies and Gynotopias: Science Fiction and Society

Camilla Ulleland Hoel, Yuri Cowan

Two Trondheim-based scholars, Camilla Ulleland Hoel (Luftkrigsskolen) and Yuri Cowan (NTNU), are collaborating on this panel on science fiction and society. Dr Hoel will discuss feminist science fiction’s innovative experiments with gender pronouns and exploration of the power dynamics of female-dominated societies. Dr Cowan will examine science fiction originating from the West Coast of North America, a region inhabited by environmentalists, indigenous peoples, utopian community-builders, and resource exploiters, all with a strong feeling for nature and a healthy disrespect for authority.

The talks will be followed by conversation and discussion.
Free admission. The talks will be held in English.
