Creative poetry and art-making workshop

Creative poetry and art-making workshop

Martha Skogen

The Literature for inclusion is excited to organize a mini-festival celebrating the international day of Mother language. This mini-festival is devoted to activities in different languages to bring together kids, young adults, families, and communities to celebrate and share their linguistic heritage.

Among many other exciting activities and events, Martha Skogen will have a creative workshop of poetry writing and art-making.

Martha Skogen is a designer/artist, poet, and native English speaker from the US. She is fascinated by the intersection between poetry, art-making, and language—especially with children. During the event, Martha will read her original poems in English and ask the audience to make marks on paper to visualise what comes up. There is no “right” way as everyone’s interpretation is valid. Like art, poetry crosses boundaries and empowers children in giving voice to their opinions. This exercise is grounded in inclusivity. Martha feels strongly that we can celebrate (regardless of age) everyone’s uniquely creative way of merging visual art and poetic verse.

The festival is organized by Literature for inclusion (the House of Literature in Trondheim) in collaboration with Trondheim public library, Trondheim friby, and ACENOR, la Asociación Cultural Española en Noruega (Spansk Kultur Forening).

The workshop will be in English, and everyone is welcome to join.
